The Truly Amazing Food on Holland America Eurodam September 2018 B+ Grade

Cruise food always amazes me. So much food available and so many varieties. The Eurodam has The Lido Market which is the main 'buffet type' eating place for breakfast, lunch & dinner,  a diner type place and a pizza place on the indoor pool area and the dining rooms (2 floors) plus the speciality restaurants and bars around the ship. In addition, unlike some lines, with Holland America, room service is free.
My three fellow travel agents who traveled with me and I (Carmie Docton, Amy Cunningham and Shelley Strommen) tried our best to taste test each and every item for you. (The Sacrifices We Make, LOL) #TravelAgentLife.

Just an assortment of menus to give you an idea of the variety. Each restaurant had menus, each section of the buffet had their own buffets and they were available through the navigator app and your television set in your cabin.

Pizza Place on Sundeck by pool
Quite honestly, i was NOT impressed with this version of Italian / New York pizza. Great ingredients and combos but wait time was 30 minutes and they needed a LOT more toppings and better cheese :( So sad to be disappointed on this!

All in All, I found the found outstanding. There was not enough seating room in the Lido marketplace - I think they expected more people to use the Dining Rooms for lunch. So it became a game of standing around grabbing a table as soon as someone else stood up - unpleasant.
Also, my complaint was with the lack of food available at night. We got back on the boat two night after 10 PM and everything was closed - not cool.
I hope the staff of the Eurodam can fix these two issues (and get better pizza!) and I can give them an A - right now - B+ is as high as I can go overall.
Although, the special lunch for those in the Mariner's Club (the HAL reward club) was lovely and the Gala night of Surf & Turf with a lobster tail and filet mignon made up for a lot of things!

Kitchen Tour with Executive Chef on the Holland America Eurodam September 2018


 One of the most important parts to anyone considering a cruise, In My Experience (IME) is "The Food."

"How's the Food?" is one of the first questions folks ask. I've been on Carnival and Royal Caribbean ships in the past. They both offer a 'chef's tour' of the kitchen and a special meal for a fairly hefty up-charge.
So it was refreshing to find that the kitchen tours, while quite extensive, are FREE on Holland America.  We received a full tour with talks from multiple chefs, including the Executive Chef at right. After the tour, we saw one of the 'premium' restaurants and were served hor' douvres from each one.

I snitched one as he was talking to someone else. In retribution he told me it was a frog egg!
It. Was. Not. LOL

Even the platings were gorgeous and appropriate to the cuisine served in that place.
